Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started is simple. You can schedule a complimentary consultation through my contact page, send me an email, or give me a call. We'll briefly discuss what you're looking for, answer any questions you have, and determine the next best step.
Yes. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation where you can ask questions, share what brings you to therapy, and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit.
I work with both individual adults and couples. Some clients seek therapy to better manage anxiety, stress, grief, or life transitions, while others come as a couple to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, or navigate relationship challenges.
I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, depression, OCD, ADHD, parenting concerns, and career or leadership challenges. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by a specific situation or simply want to better understand yourself and your relationships, therapy can provide a supportive place to grow.
I use an integrative, evidence-based approach tailored to your needs and goals. Depending on what brings you to therapy, I draw from therapies that help people develop psychological flexibility, build practical coping skills, process difficult emotions, and create meaningful change. In my work with couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps partners strengthen their connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict more effectively.
A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. During our consultation and early sessions, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about my approach, and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek counseling because they want to improve relationships, manage stress more effectively, navigate life transitions, increase self-awareness, or simply feel more like themselves again. Couples can also benefit from therapy proactively by strengthening communication, deepening their connection, or preparing for marriage. Therapy can be a meaningful investment in your overall well-being and the health of your relationships.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss what's bringing you to therapy, explore your history, identify your goals, and begin developing a plan for moving forward. There's no expectation that you have everything figured out before you arrive. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we'll take it one step at a time.
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments for clients across North Carolina. Many clients choose to meet virtually on a regular basis, while others use telehealth when work, travel, or family schedules make it more convenient.
I am currently an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Payment is due at the time of each session. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I'm happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. If you are paying out of pocket, you'll also receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before services begin.
Choosing a private-pay model allows me to focus on your care rather than insurance requirements. Insurance companies often require a mental health diagnosis, determine what services are covered, and may limit the type or duration of treatment. By remaining out of network, I have greater flexibility to tailor therapy to your individual needs, protect your privacy, and focus on what is most helpful for you rather than what your insurance plan dictates.
Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards. If you plan to use HSA or FSA funds, I recommend checking with your plan administrator regarding your specific benefits and eligibility.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee, except in cases of illness or emergency.
